HOW CAN I FIND OUT COMPANIES HE HAD COVERAGE WITH HUSBAND DIED 2008 HAD JUST MOVED SAME STATE REMEMBER BUYING LIFE INSURANCE ON THE 80S NOT NAME NO POLICIES FOUND HE HAD MENTIONED INSURANCE COVERAGE

First of all, you’re not alone. This question seems to pop up here quite often.
Second, you could be in for a long search. If you have no idea about what policy he might have had, where he would have gotten it, where he might have kept a copy of it… your only option is to start making some phone calls. The bad news is there are hundreds of carriers that offer life insurance in California. You can google for life insurance companies in California, but there are hundreds if not thousands of them to pick from… it could take you a very long time to find out where his life insurance was, IF he had it to begin with.
You’re best starting bet is to ask around… an old employer, his bank ( maybe a safe deposit box ), papers kept in the house in a safe place, local insurance companies and agents….. the carrier is obligated to contact the beneficiary in the event they are notified of the insured’s death, but if no one is around to do that, there isn’t much the carrier can do but sit and wait for someone to claim the money.
