Claims status closed on the insurane web site We are still in discussion with the adjuster as the damages assesed by contractor is more than what the insurance complany estimated. But the website shows claim status as closed. I am confused.

When you have a claim with your homeowner insurance company they set up an online claim that will give you some information on the status of the claim. It does not reflect everything that is happening, but just brief information regarding the claim. The claim can be shown as closed but it could still be open. Sometimes the adjuster or assistant will show the claim as closed if they have requested information and it has not been received. After a certain period of time they will close the claim. However, once the information that is being requested is recerivedd they will reopen the claim.Contact the adjuster to see what information may be needed to reopen the claim. If they say they are working on the claim, ask them why it is showing as closed. It may just be a clerical error. If not, make sure you keep in touch with the adjuster to keep the claim moving forward.
