Company History: Allstate was originally founded in 1931 by Sears Roebuck. In the 1980’s shares of Allstate were distributed to Sears’ Shareholders. Allstate became a publicly traded company in 1993.Allstate’s general sales manager Davis W. Ellis created the company’s “You’re in Good Hands with Allstate” slogan in 1950. At the end of 2013, Allstate’s total assets equaled out to 123.5 billion dollars. In 2014 Allstate ranked number 92 on the Fortune 500 list as it is the third largest U.S. personal lines insurer. The Allstate Corporation was incorporated under the laws of the State of Delaware on November 5, 1992 to serve as the holding company for Allstate Insurance Company.

Allstate financial sells life/accident/health insurance products. Beginning January 1, 2014, the Company stopped offering fixed annuities.
Auto Business: Allstate is the 3rd largest automobile insurance company in the United States. Allstate features products such as Allstate Your Choice Auto which includes options such as accident forgiveness, safe driving deductible rewards and a safe driving bonus. They also offer a Claim Satisfaction Guarantee that ensures a return of premium to customers who are not satisfied with their claims experience. The Drivewise program (currently available in 30 states)grants discounts and bonuses based on driving performance.
Homeowners Business: Allstate Protection mainly sells private passenger auto and homeowners insurance in the United States andCanada.
Have been insured with Allstate for 25+ years, filed one minor claim for storm damage to my roof which
leaked damaging my ceiling. My agent suggested I file a claim, which I did. The shingles on my home were damaged and blown off as well as some70 foot tall trees uprooted around my home which also damaged my neighbor’s fence. The Adjuster came out, assessed the damage, and informed me that
my shingles wer not installed properly and refused to pay for any damages. I have since replaced my
roof which cost me $4000.00 out of my pocket. The only thing they offered was maybe some paint
to paint the damage to my ceiling. How disgusting of such a well known company.

I’ve had to file 2 claims in the last 10 years. The first was an auto claim from a hail storm. Allstate made it very easy with a drive in service, gave me a check on the spot and I had no problem getting the damage fixed. The second claim was from a pipe bursting in our kitchen. They were wonderful. I had to have a water damage specialist out to dry out walls and check for mold. My agent was on top of everything and very considerate, always checking to make sure things were going ok.

I bought a new car and my premium went from 380/6 months to 467.00 to 567.45 in just 10 days! Each time I call them or they mail me my new bill it increases. When I call no one seems to give me the reason why it keeps climbing. I have shopped other deals and found GEICO and Progressive to have more coverage for $347.70! Do you see a problem here?

I’ve had Allstate for over 15 years with NO gaps and NO claims, ever, but they want to increase my rates up as though I’ve never been insured thru them because I was on my husbands auto policy for a few months…and the policy was in his name only, while I was just listed as a driver. It doesn’t matter that I’ve had homeowners, renters, and car insurance through Allstate for over 15 years prior, with my own policies… They are treating me as though I just walked into the door for the first time offering me increased rates. Not the kind of company I want insuring me as their treatment is unfair. If I want a policy in my own name, then I have to start over. No thank you, Allstate.

Have had allstate home and auto coverage for 30 years with no claims. Received non-renewal notice. Have always covered home damage out-of-pocket because of agent’s threats on non-renewal! Crap company… crappy agents!! Would love to see everyone in Florida stop using them for car insurance!

The washer hose broke while I was out and my family room flooded, Allstate was prompt in working with me, however I had to do all the leg work and they tried to cut cost on everything. They eventually pay me for most of the cost and the items that got damaged, but it was very difficult to work with them (they do not return phone calls, ignore requests, etc.). I am now looking for another insurance company.

They cancelled our insurance simply because we live in Florida. We’ve had them for years and never a claim. We live 10 miles from the beach and our home has survived several hurricanes with no damage. I will never do business with them again.

a pipe broke in our house and had approximately 20,000 worth of damage 3 months later and calling everyday to allstate they just send us a 5000 check and said thats it. Where can you find someone in fairfield county to replace 300 square feet of carpeting and replace walls trim and paint plus insulation never mind all the contents we lost.

We had to battle to get the replacement costs for a burst pipe that did some water damage to our house. The claims adjuster was a nice fellow but his estimation of replacement costs was too low.

ky – I bought my first house with my husband and had all new carpet, furniture etc. put in. We had been married for 6 years and were so happy with this house. My husband was at home in the laundry room when the house caught fire. (fire chief said it was electrical within the walls) my husband barely got out with our puppy. The cat caught fire and ran out the back and our chinchilla died. I was at work. Allstate did not want to help us. They claimed that maybe my husband started the fire! I couldn’t believe what I was hearing. We had to move into his mom and dads place, relatives gave us clothes to wear, my wedding album & family pictures, pets “all gone” I was devistated. We had to get a lawyer to have allstate pay. It took more than a year. Things were so bad that my husband and I eventually got a divorce from the stress of it all. Allstate is suppose to be there to support and help people not distroy their lives. Maybe they should look up the meaning in the dictionary of the words (coverage and protection).

Had to fight tooth and nail for every nickel on the one and only claim I have ever filed in 16 years with Allstate (home and auto). While the entire neighborhood was under repair to roofs and siding from a nasty hail storm, my adjuster claimed I had no damage. What an incredible storm to damage hundreds of houses all around me but miss mine! Fought for months to finally get the claim settled to my satisfaction. I wonder what happens when people don’t fight. Ended up OK but the battle along the way was unecessary.

I was a policy holder for 45 years. They have no loyalty. I loaned my truck to a friend who drove it into his own vehicle. Allstate raised my rates for three years. They then very cavalierly chose to not offer earthquake insurance and did virtually nothing to help me find other coverage to replace it. After all that time, I expected to have some personal consideration. I have left the company.

Have been hit head on and rear ended. I was not at fault for
either wreck. Allstate made me do ALL the legwork.
I repeatedly asked my agent to put rental coverage back on my policy when I found he had removed it before the first wreck and I had to pay out of pocket for a rental car.
After the second wreck, Allstate claims says he never did
it. And my agent is my brother in law!!!! Looking for a new
company that understands the definition of service.

2 homeowner claims for smoke and h20 damage very well done
3 auto claims over 15 years 2 handled well last one took 6 weeks to make a discision about totaling the car. they really dragged their feet on that one. Up until then I was ok with paying more than other insurance companies, but now I am looking at other companies.

Newly married and with Allstate less than two years a hailstorm came through our neighborhood, allstate treatment was above and beyond cutting me check at my dining room table for the full amount of a roof + extras!!! When my truck was broken into they compensated nicely with little to no resistance, a few years later I nearly totaled my vehicle – after explaining to them I wanted it totaled and did not want my truck back after the damage that was sustained they immediately tried very hard to work with me and were able to total it for full market value(I did the research, but did not need the proof of value) all of this was accomplished with out my agent getting involved in any way. I am very happy with Allstate and convinced that if I need them again I will be happy with my choice of insurance companies once again. I am in good hands with Allstate!

after the adjuster viewed the damage to my car, he gave a repair parts list and total cost which was 1512.04. After the car was repaired, he changed his mind. Allstate’s check was for 1189. We were stuck paying the balance to the repair shop. Worst business practices and work ethics of any insurance company ever dealt with. P.S. The claims staff never returned our phone calls and avoided us like the plague.

Allstate will raise the rates of long term loyal customers to offset loses from high risk polices(hurricanes,floods,fires,etc.)at the same time cancelling those polices. Very unfair way to treat their good customers!!!

They are expensive, and keep raising my insurance rates every 6 months for no reason. I already have 3 quotes for half the amount they are charging. Obviously, they either don’t want to be doing business in Florida or they don’t want me for a customer. Either way, they are out of my life in 2 more weeks.

“You’re in good hands with Allstate” Greatest insurance company in the world. They are always very timely cashing my checks. Only bad thing about Allstate, never make a claim with them because those same good hands will flip you the bird.20 year customer with only one home owners claim. I am not sure if all the other insurance companies suck as bad as Allstate, but if you’re going to have discounted service you might as well use a discounted company

I had Allstate insurance for years. I had one claim paid out for theft; my reimbursement was far less than coverage I was paying for. Twice I’ve been advised to not file a claim; “your rates may go up”, “your insurance might get canceled”, etc. I never did file the claims due to those response, and so paid for the repairs out of my own pocket. I’ve since switched to another insurance company, and I’m saving over $1300 per year for auto, homeowners, umbrella policy, and a tiny vacation home. The larger companies seem to have their fees very comparable to each other, I’m sure that’s deliberate. I found a company, (starts with an A), that I wasn’t too familiar with, until one person told me about them. They went on and on how great they are. I’ve switched, and I have to agree. The savings are significant, their customer service is excellent; so far, I’m impressed. I can’t recommend the ‘big name’ insurance companies. I feel they take advantage of people and continually practice “comparative negligence”, a practice that shifts blame so they don’t have to pay as much. It infuriates me! People have options, but it takes time and energy to muddle through it all.

Allstate is a horrible company. Whenever there is a personal injury claim involved, you can count on an offer that is less than the medical bills!!! Its adjusters and attorneys come up with the most ridiculous arguments to justify lowball offers. I just recently switched to Progressive auto insurance and will save over $1,000 per year. I also switched my homeowners to another insurer and will save about $800 per year.

We have 6 policies with Allstate. I was involed in an auto accident that was not my fault- however the other car is also insured by Allstate. They are refusing to pay me for my lost wages for the three and a half days that it took for them to get me a rental car.
On top of that, they have taken two and a half weeks trying to decide if my car will be totaled or fixed. Initially they appraised it high- so they could work the repair in- now that it’s looking like there is more damage than they intially thought, they are saying that they will consider the appraisal, but are talking about valuing my car 2,000-3,000 under their inital value.
So, where are the good hands?

Home insurance premium increases by $40-50 every renewal even without claim. Auto insurance looks reasonable but double check coverage, you can get better coverage with same price. Had to file a claim twice, very unsatisfied, had to do a lot of follow-up otherwise allstate just sits on it (both times we’re not at fault). They don’t seem interested to collect damages.

Been with All State for 6 years, (auto, home, umbrella, recreational vehicles, boat policies). When my renewal for the umbrella policy came up the rate increased 45%! Called and they said is was a computer error. I then looked into all my policies and found many errors!!! Costing me hundreds of dollars. I am shopping for a new carrier.

We have 6 policies with allstate. Turned in one claim, full coverage of a boat that sank, and they covered only the fire department rescue. They are EXPERT in finding excuses not to provide the insurance you paid for. We are shopping for another insurance company now, and of couse there is no more boat.

I have had allstate as my insurance carrier for 12 years. It has been until the last 2yrs that I have found the need to run. I have never filed a claim – ever. No tickets of any kind. Yet magically for the past 2 yrs Allstate has found some *$#? reason to increase my premiums. The reason that they gave me this year – my car is over 7years old. That’s right my seriously depreciated vehicle will now cost more to insure according to allstate. What planet are these people from? How stupid do they think I am? I will be carrier shopping before the next payment is due.

I have had home owners and auto insurance for three vehicles with Allstate for over 20 years. I have been checking around and found the same coverage, or better, for one half the amount I am paying Allstate. When I called my agent to ask for an explanation I was told that “I only work here, I just put the numbers into the computer”. I am cancelling my coverage with them. I’m only sorry I did not do it 20 years ago.

I have mixed feelings about Allstate. Their local agent has little influence with the company to help us. We have been with them for several years and receive no benefit for this loyalty. Their rates have been going up. Claims for minor things such as windshield replacement have resulted in rates going-up. Our rates are comparatively high versus other companies.

took 4 months to get the car fixed by Allstate’s body shop. Repairs totaled more than what I paid for car, but body shop inflated the price of my car so it wasn’t at 80%. Repair job was terrible, had to send car back 3 times, and just gave up. repeated phone calls to a claims lines with no call backs. adjuster never called me despite repeated requests and finally when he did, was incredibly rude, hostile. I stayed with them for my agent, but they are expensive and handle claims poorly, so will be leaving. Also, won’t give discount for teen’s driver ed couse – you have to buy Allstate’s CD version to get the discount.

During Hurricane Isabel in 2003,we had damage to our fence, yard, and roof, and siding. Allstate was very prompt in coming out to access the damage. I wish we were given more to cover the cost of the repairs. The insurance check did not pay for everything. We had to come out of pocket and split cost with a neighbor for fence repair. But I guess most home insurance policies are like this.

been with Allstate for nearly 20 years – auto insurnace went up $1000 yr because of two trafic tickets – no accidents. Also Homeownerws fees are going up eveey 3 months for past 3 years for no reason. never made a claim on homeowners. Looks like allstate is only looking to force me out of my policy – probably because they want out of Calif.( homeowners ) Look around now if you have a policy with them.

Extremely disgusted with service. Once a customer for over 15 years without a claim, but after first claim was made I was screwed.

My entire house was destroyed by a water heater explosion (located in attic). I have been working with adjuster to get enough money to rebuild and now 12 months later and 4 evaluations, I still only have 75% of the money required. Allstate has ignored all of my estimates from local contractors, saying “their” contractor will do it for less. When I let “their” contractor start the gutting of the house, he never provided me a budget, so I stopped him after the gutting. Turns out when I got his bill (4 months later), he was 120% over the budget Allstate alloted for the demolition. I now have to sue them in court for unfair claims practice, breach of contract, and bad faith. I’ve been out of my house for 12 months. My first payment for structure damage from them was almost 7 months after the initial loss. I will never do business with them again! EVER! The “Good Hands” people only have their hands out when they want the Premium paid!

I have been an allstate customer for over 20 years and was just given a non-renewel letter. I was shocked. I would not suggest allstate to anyone. My insurance was for all my property home,and cars. I can’t believe the extremely poor goodwill and loyality they have with me as a customer.

Had a claim from a fire on a horse trailer. The horse trailer did not have any coverage for such an incident. However, all the contents were covered under my homeowners content with std. deductible. Allstate worked with us and paid the claim on the contents, no hassles, very easy to work with. Interestingly had the horse trailer been next to my house it would have been covered.

Allstates adjuster did send people out to our house to get rid of moisture for 11 days, during which time mold developed, they don’t cover. Just about the only thing they do cover is LAVA damage and damage from a NUCLEAR MELTDOWN. I will NOT be renewing

I was with them for 7 years, no accidents. Then I dented my neighbors fender- $1250– and my premium increased by 53%. I talked with the agent and he really didn’t care. He was fine with losing my business. I had both home and car insurence.

Allstates agent that I have my policy thru has changed the policy limits on my account twice without my authorization or knowledge till I got a new copy of my policy. They have also added a car to my policy that shouldn’t have been on it. During these changes they recalculated my rate to a new rate increase that costs me an extra $140.00 every 6 months on my policy.

I bought life insurance through Allstate with Lincoln Benefit Life (the two companies are associated). I signed up for a term life policy 4 years ago with Lincoln Benefit that was supposed to be switched to a “whole life” policy after the first year. The way it was explained to me (because I didn’t even want to sign up for the term because it was too expensive – $1200) was that after the first year I could switch to the whole life policy which cost $5000 and get a credit for the $1200 for the first year which is what I did. The insurance broker faxed me over the pages on a rush basis after the first year to switch the policy and I faxed them back to her the same day. What I believe was the terms and conditions page had been recopied so many times that you can’t even read it. A few weeks later the policy book was delivered to me by the agent. The way she had described the policy was that my money would only grow so according to what she told me I should have $15000 plus interest. What I have now is nothing. I in theory have $12000 because they deduct “costs” and “expenses” – none of which she told me when she was selling me the policy. She told me the reason is because when she was explaining the policy to me her laptop computer wouldn’t allow her to show me the costs and expenses. Another feature she failed to tell me about is that I have to be in the policy for 20 years! If I pull out in advance I forfeit $14300. When I received my last statement I didn’t understand the costs and expenses and called up Lincoln Benefit to find out what was going on and I found out then for the first time that Lincoln Benefit (my insurance company) no longer sells whole life policies and I had been signed up for an “adjustable flexible” policy. I explained that I had never even heard my insurance broker utter those words and that she had only referred to the policy as a whole life policy. My agent had never told me about costs and expenses and never explained the $14300 default fee if I pulled out before 20 years. She did a bait and switch on me. Lincon’s complaint department did an investigation and have said everything is on the up and up and I have no recourse. I was totally lied to and relied on everything she told me about this policy. I was never informed AT ALL about the $14,300 default fee or about the costs and expenses – she simply described my money growing each and every year so by now I would have the $150000 I’ve put in plus around 5% interest. Lincoln agreed to give me back $5000 if I terminated my policy. However, they kept my remaining $10,000. DON’T DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY IF YOU WISH TO KEEP YOUR MONEY. I’ve tried everything I can do to get my money back but it appears I would have to sue them and I just don’t know what my chances would be. I work with a law firm and even the lawyers here told me they’re unable to understand my policy in full. I depended on Lincoln to explain to me what I was buying and by leaving out vital details I was in fact lied to. A partner at my firm (a very intelligent attorney) told me that even he had been the victim of a similar policy so it can’t be just me. I honestly don’t know how they can get away with this but it appears they can. I work 13 hours a day as a secretary to support my family and the $10,000 they ended up keeping was two years of my bonuses. This was money I thought I could use in the event of an emergency and now it is all gone.

I had to sue them to pay a $3,300 claim when another Allstate driver rear-ended my car and have since canceled all my policies with them (3 vehicles and homeowners on 2 homes)

Well visiting Boston for a few months my 03 maxima had an attempted theft of the headlights. Well 2 months later my car is still in the shop and Allstate can’t seem to get the claim process done. First they wanted the body shop to take pics and send to them, then after 1 week they decide to send out an appraiser. Well still no car and no check. The claims rep avoids my calls and doesn’t call me back. Stay away from Allstate. They employ idiots…..

When I purchased renters insurance from Allstate I inquired as to whether my finance’s property would be covered under the policy and was told that it would be…jump forward a year and a half later after my fiance was robbed and they tell us that no, he’s not my relative (though at this point he’s my husband) he’s not covered.

I purchased renters insurance in 2006 from Allstate, at the time of purchase I asked the agent I spoke with on the phone if my live-in boyfriend and his possessions would be covered under this policy and was told that yes he would.
When we received the policy in the mail both my boyfriend and I looked over the policy and everything seemed to be in order.
Fast forward a year and a half later, my boyfriend gets robbed at gunpoint, and Allstate won’t cover the claim because his name is not listed on the policy.
Not only did I feel that we were shafted, but after speaking with 3 different Allstate agents each of them told me something different, one person said he was covered, another said even my husband wouldn’t be covered unless I added his name to the policy, and a third said my husband would be covered under the policy, named or not.
I see no reason why Allstate can’t provide clear, honest information to customers and why each agent basically had a different story in regards to my policy and claim.

Can’t really judge them because I didn’t have any incidents come across during that time. Price is the only thing I could judge them on. They are very expensive even with having all the discounts.

Our agent is terrific, but the company totally gave us the run-around on paying what they legally owed us on a homeowner’s claim. We had to hire a public adjuster to get the claim processed. A total nightmare, hours and hours of time spent, and we had to pay the adjuster 20% of what little the insurance company did finally pay. I’ll be shopping my insurance elsewhere. We were told that Liberty Mutual has good homeowner’s.

Prices are getting extremely high on auto and home. We have had no claims in 17 years. There is someone covering for our insurance agent and he seems very sneaky and wanted to pull our credit and couldnt tell me why.

Allstate keeps increasing rate without any claims. And it is expensive!
The service is very bad. The renewal notice clearly says if you don’t pay the new policy before the end of current policy, that means you deny the offer or new policy and your coverage will terminate at the end of current policy.
That’s a lie! They will charge you an extra month if you do nothing and you have to call many times and fax various documents (e.g., your new policy with other company) to get it settled.
Be aware of this company when you have to deal with them! I personally don’t trust them.

Another Allstate policyholder rear-ended our car, causing the trunk to stay half open. We filed the claim against other driver, after 7 days, and after talking to 11 different Allstate representatives at 1-866-xxx-xxxx, we still did not get assigned an adjuster, neither did we get contacted with the information how to start the process. Whatever information we left with the previous allstate representative, the next one has no idea. Faxed the police report twice, they still did not take any action. It is pathetic to pay so much money and receive a miserable treatment when we need allstate. Oh, did I mention, we have to do all the legwork, ’cause our agent is nowhere to be found. After this claim is settled, we ARE leaving this #?# insurance company for good.

I have car insurance with Allstate and have been attempting to get life insurance. I have had car insurance for about 10 years and have had to make 1 claim during this time (about 7 years ago). It was handled OK, not great.
However, my attempts to get life insurance have been unbelievably frustrating. It has taken well over a month of going back and forth, unanswered phone calls, conflicting information, wrong quotes and every kind of frustration you can imagine. Clearly, the agents who deal with life insurance are particularly incompetent and slow….

Warning. Watch out for roof damage claims aganist Allstate, don’t believe what they say, they only reimburse a portion of the cost. They estimate the damage and repair only the damaged part leaving a two toned roof that lowers the value of the home. Have not been able to find a contractor that will perform the work for even the purposed settlement cost.

I have had ALLSTATE for the last 4 years but have seen an increase in all of my 6-month policies for the last 2 or 3 years. It’s was only in the first year that they kept my rates the same. I’m fed up. I have filed no claims in these years, had no accidents, and received no driving tickets. My car is a 1995 Ford and should be getting cheaper by the year to insure. I’m almost 40-years-old which means my rates should be going down as well. ALLSTATE has offered no real explanation to me for these rate increases; they just say that rates are going up for everyone. That’s not an explanation. I want a real reason and not some B*&^ S*&^ reason. I will be doing my rate shopping this time around.

Fraud. Will find any reason to not completely fix your damaged property. Your claim will not be satisfied. After a storm they sent out roofers who patched up my roof before the adjuster arrived. They then claimed they never touched anything and only put down a tarp. Right!!

Filed claim for simple traffic accident that was their clients fault according to police report filed. Had to supply them with this report,faxed it twice before they got it. They had the wrong address for the adjuster to go to. Had to make almost all of the contact and got the runaround from everyone. They didn’t even know adjuster had been to see us. Has been over two weeks and we finally rented a car that they say they may not pay for. Adjusters rates for repair work was $42 an hour. Our garage charges $75. Insurance claimed they were unreasonably high. Called others and they were even higher. Feel they are dragging thier feet on this claim that should be very simple to resolve. Would never insure with this company..

Allstate commercial business owners policy insured for over 7 yrs with one wind damage claim for 2300, which they used to drop coverage because I’m in a flood/wind prone area. Although, the last flood was in 1963. Allstate only wants to insure areas with very little or no risk.

So we wanted to remove our teenage daughter from our auto policy because she will no longer be driving our vehicles. Here is the quote of what I was told: “I was informed by underwriting that “HER NAME” can not be taken off the auto policy because she still has a valid license and she resided in your household and we are still liable for her if she does happen to drive.” This is absolutely ridicules. By this policy if my elderly mother moves in with us and still has a valid drivers license then we’ll need to add her to our policy just in case she decides to take a joy ride. I would like them to explain to me how they would be responsible for a claim if she drives one of our cars? The law may make them pay but they’d surely sue us until we could only afford to live in a box. I’ll be switching this week. The reviews here show that Amica is pretty good.

My truck is going on 10 yr.s old, I have never had an accident or filed a claim for any reason, no tickets. They claim they are giving me all these good driver discounts and yet they continue to raise my rates. This last time is was raised $65.00, (6 mo.) They told me it was because the State of Alaska approved it with a bill they passed. I contacted the Div. of Insurance and the Legislative Ofc. and no such bill was passed. The Division of Insurance sent me a complaint form which I have completed, and I have since found out that Allstate has several complaints against them.

As an Allstate policy holder for many years (30+ years auto, and 15+ years home), I recently filed my first-ever homeowner’s claim for wind damage in an area Allstate internally designated as catastrophic due to widespread damages.
Initial claim was incomplete in my opinion, subsequent claim was literally LOST after submitted online.
Handled very very poorly. I’m shopping rates now and plan to change.

I filed a claim for my truck. I met with the Adjuster the next day and received a check in the mail 2 days later. The actual cost of repair was about $275 more than the check I received and Allstate paid the body shop directly with no problems. I was completely satisfied with the claim process and the Allstate personnel were friendly and competent

When some of my tools were stolen out of the garage, the nice lady I had always dealt with at Allstate was nowhere to be found. Instead, I was passed around to a variety of claims agents who repeatedly lied to me, demanded ever increasing amounts of information, went on vacation causing me to have to start the process over again, and basically stalled until I finally gave up. I hated to give them the result they were so clearly after, but it just became too much.

Hail storm in 2007 was severe. Most neighbors got new roofs. I was hesitant to file since I had read about the Insurance CASE file. But after having three roofers look at the roof, who said I had significant damage, I filed a claim for hail damage. Allstate sent an inspector that did a cursory walk over my roof, took a few pictures and declared I had no hail damage. I called one of the roofers over. He showed her the damage. She was in denial – a training that Allstate had given her. The roofer told me that this inspector had never seen hail damage to roofs since his first meeting with her – several years earlier. He took about 50 pictures of my damage which I used as an appeal. Allstate’s claims department is the worst I’ve ever dealt with.
I asked for another look by another inspector. Allstate refused. I took it as high as I could within Allstate, then to the Alabama Insurance Commission, and to the Better Business Bureau. All contacts sided with Allstate. The Alabama Commission has no “teeth.” They said I could hire a roofing engineer (about $1000), and a laywer, and take ALlstate to court. But the costs could be as much as a new roof (out of my pocket) if the court sides with Allstate.
Now that it is time to renew my policy, I learned some painful experiences about the CASE file. Other companies use my claim, even though it was not honored, to determine my premium. And some companes want to send an inspector to examine my roof for damage ( during the first 60 days of coverage). If any is found, they want me to replace my roof if the coverrage is to continue – or be dropped. The insurance industry needs more oversight.

I was rear ended and put in a claim in order to expedite my repair. Over 8 months have passed and I haven’t gotten my deductible back. I got several calls over the 8 month asking for the same information over an over again (description of accident etc.) They closed the claim without notifying me.

My daughter backed into my truck in my driveway. Allstate wanted to issue two claims with two deductibles. I had three vehicles and my house with them covered they denied a single claim and gave me only the repair on the little car. I am through with this company forever. You are penalized for having more than one vehicle insured with this company. I have already filed with the State Department of Insurance for a resoulution.

After many homes in our subdivision were repaired and covered for hail damage by their insurance companies, we had a company look at our siding and roof. The employee stated that there was definitely hail damage, but said that Allstate is one of the worst for getting claims approved. Not only were we denied both the roof and siding (they claimed it was old damage), we received a letter saying that an inspector came and deemed our roof unsafe and we had 2 months to get it repaired or they were going to drop us. We are now changing companies. Good bye and good ridance AllState.

Allstate would not pay to repair my Corvette at the repair facility of my choice. The claims rep offered less than half of the repair cost. When I called to a discuss with managment I was told that they only pay so much for repair work no matter what kind of car you drive. They did not care that it costs twice as much to insure my car, and that had no bearing on repair cost estimates. I am extremely dissatisfied with Allstate Ins, I am currently seeking legal advice on how to recover my losses.

I’ve had both Allstate home and auto for many years, about 18. When I first got auto insurance, I checked around and their rates were pretty competitive and cheaper than State Farm (Geico was only a little bit cheaper)–that was in Wash DC. I moved to Maryland and just kept them but last year started comparing rates when I bought a new car, and realized my auto insurance was several hundred dollars a year more than other companies, so I dropped the auto. I might add, I had never once filed a claim with Allstate and am in a very low risk category. Their service was generally okay, but I only had dealings on minor issues, like billings, so have no idea about claims. Now I am checking around to compare my homeowners, and finding again that Allstate is rather expensive in comparison to other major insurers, for me. Again, I have never filed a claim with them in 18 years. So I expect I’ll drop that, also. In short, I have no dealings with how they handle claims, but they don’t seem to value good customers as I have been, and charge excessive premiums, which now I am realizing. I don’t understand that business model — drive away good customers who have never filed a claim and are low risk. I think previously they may have been competitive in DC (where some insurers won’t even write auto policies as it is high risk) for auto, but isn’t in Maryland for anything.

21yr policy holder, home damaged by tornado 3/4/08–still pending if the damage to my home is covered, since it is a 100 yr old home, insured for total of 30yrs between myself and previous owner…Trying to deny coverage for damage-stating prior settlement and damage- has been inspected by 2 adjuster teams, an engineer, now going for round table discussion with engineers..not handling this claim in good faith, extreme emotional distress caused by the entire process….I have paid for the coverage from such disaters, now fighting for my home which has been condemned as structurally unsafe to live in…Allstate is trying to pay for roof & window damage and place me in a home which is unsafe! This is now 4/28/08 and still pending a 4th review for cause of damage! It is time to honor the contract between the insured and insurer and quit looking for ways to deny the claim!

We have had Allstate for years and the cost went up.
We decided to change companies, and then I went back. Call me a gluten for punishment.
They had dropped our rate but, now it has gone up $15.00 a month, for this 6 month period. The agent said because Allstate had incurred some expense, and passed it onto the cust., for some strange reason. Did not really get a good reason. I asked about the commercial that the fees went down with them and they is only for Silver Premium, or some very expensive featured policy insurance. We have decided to change insurance companies. We have had enough of the high cost, Insurance being our biggest expense, over all other bills. Now from $335.00 a month jumped to $350.00 monthly, for 3 vehicles, full coverage, 2006, 2003, 2001 are the yrs. of those. Stacked. 100,000/300,000, etc. We are getting older and the cost is going up. No more. Been surfing the web, and We are not going to take it anymore.

When in need of an inspection of hail damage to a roof Allstate recommended having their adjuster look at the damage who then said it was not bad and would not recommend repairs. I had three other roofers come out all said the roof needed to be replaced, including one of another insurance company.
Another time Allstate failed me…I was struck in a parking lot. The other driver made a claim against me saying I had struck her. We both were insured by Allstate. After I provided my side of the story and she hers, they found in favor of her. Her car was terribly in need of repair before she struck me. She was able to have a whole new front end put on from a “tap” that she gave me while I was parked. It has been two years and they have charged my policy additional premiums when I was told my type of policy would allow an exception for such items. When I asked my local agent to intervene he told me I was one of thousands of clients and that wasn’t his job. So, I shopped around and am now saving over $1000 per year in home and auto insurance by going with LIberty Mutual. NEVER use Allstate, you are never in good hands!

they are good in reimbursing money when the insured is at fault. they need to figure out ways to speed up process when a third party is at fault, specifically when multiple parties are involved. i had a multi car accident over more than 11 months ago, and the claim is not yet settled. I did get the car repaired for which they paid. However the deductible is not yet reimbursed and my record not corrected.

I love Allstate. My aagent is great and meets with my family 1 to 2 times a year to go over our policies and make sure we are getting the best rates. And now with their accident forgiveness they are definitely the best insurance company around.

The only bad things about Allstate auto insurance as far as I’m concerned is the price is a bit high and you get totally screwed over (rate-hike-wise) if you get a speeding ticket. Other than that, they’ve always been very easy to deal with and no problems with claims.

I had a fender bender last winter, slid on ice into a parked car. I talked to Alllstate only once and it seemed to get things taken care of. My premiums stayed the same, and there weren’t any issues. I’m not sure how they fare otherwise (i.e. homeowners etc..) I’ve had their car insurance for 13 years though, in 4 different states, several claims, and never any problems.

I have attempted to add to my insurance plan for about 3 months now. My agent (or his office) commit to writing up a quote and call me back. I have not received a call back to date. I transferred my policies to another company today. I have better coverage for less money and so far better customer service!

We have always had a good relationship with this company. The people that we have dealt with are always friendly and efficient. When we did have a claim through them it was handled quickly and fairly. We have been with this company for over 15 years and their prices have been the best, even when we added our teenager to the policy. I would recommend this company to anyone looking for a great insurance company.

prenmiums rise as benefits deecline. I also had my homeowners insurance with allstate until this past year, Same problem premiums went up and benefits disappeared. I found other coverage with mush better benefits and premiums considerably lower. Looks like I will have to shop my auto insurance the same way. They have grown too large and they have forgotten that it was the poor people making the premeiums that put them in the top of the market. I for one will no longer be part of the “In good hands” policy holder.

I’ve been with Allstate Insurance for 25 years and had 1 claim when we had the storm damage a few years back. But; as this being the only claim I’ve had and I’ve reduced the value of my property for billing I still keep getting renewals that have been increased by as much as $200.00 for no known reason. Allstate is not fair to its customer’s. And to get new home owner’s insurance I will have to get appraisals. I’m just like most people in a catch 22 when it comes to what to do…….

Allstate has no loyalty to their customers. Been with them over 20 years with no accidents and was recently treated unkindly when I had to make a claim due to an auto accident caused by an uninsured motorist. I am not happy with Allstate and cannot believe their attitude towards long-standing customers.

My house was just destroyed by a tornado. It took a week for the Allstate adjusters to come – meanwhile we were not allowed to touch anything so whatever might have been saved was ruined by the elements and mold. (Neighbor’s insurance companies where there within days.) It’s been over a month and I still have not been paid. The agent told me many things that never came true – like we are entitled to rent for a year when the company says oh no that’s capped at $300. Also, Allstate was shocked and likely dismayed to find that I still had copies my policies. Allstate tried to undercut me and tag me with a previous policy that was worth thousands less. Very important to keep copies of your policies in different places and not trust the insurance company. I’m shocked by their treatment and will never use them gain. I guess the moral is they are a good company – as long as you pay and never file any claims. Might I add that I have had these policies for almost 30 years!!

Although every neighbor around me (in a normal spaced subdivision) filed the same claim and had their Insurance Co. approved their claim. One other neighbor also w/Allstate had their claim denied. I have been a customer for almost 20 years and have never filed a claim until a tornado hit my neighborhood in early May. Now I feel like an advisary. My agent is not helping me out at all. No one will offer me any advice. I have had to research and enlist the help of advocates. On my agent’s advice I filed a claim and the adjuster denied it. Had a home fire and could not reach an agent of the phone to handle my claim. It took the Allstate agent 5 days to return my call only to deny my claim. After I canceled the policy they sent me a renewal bill stating I had to provide proof that I had home insurance to cancel the renewal (biggest scam I’ve seen personally in my lifetime). AVOID THIS GARBAGE and remember that the commercials as just commercials.

You know the commercial where the guy says you get a check for every 6 mos without an accident ? My check was for $3.54. HAHA! Then my renewal came in and what a shocker the rate had cone up by over $65.

Very high rates for wind/hail on the roof. SO I paid more for my deductable that they paid on my claim. Plus a hassle to work with.
My husband got hit during an ice storm and since we didn’t have comp/collision and the teenage driver was also covered by Allstate, they placed blame on my husband but wouldn’t pay us any money. Now, the accident is on his record and it is causing trouble as we look to find a new company.

I had no problems with Allstate for the first 13 years, but then I was injured when I was rear-ended on a highway by someone who was also insured by Allstate. Because there was only one insurance company involved there was only one way for Allstate to try to reduce the size of the claim, and that was to try to limit my claim and medical expenses. It actually took three phone calls before Allstate would set up my Personal Injury Protection claim to cover my medical expenses. They also lied to me, telling me I would “need” to make a recorded statement before they would determine responsibility for the accident and cover the costs. During the taping of my statement,the interviewer kept trying to put words in my mouth. I only discovered that this “need” for a recorded statement was a lie when I later spoke to an attorney. As I continued treatment, I was even called three times a week by Allstate representatives to ask about my injury. The attorney said Allstate was hoping for a “good day” so they could take advantage and hopefully settle the claim prematurely at lower cost. Fortunately, I did receive advice on how to end a portion of the harassment, but later Allstate put one provider’s bills under “investigation” so they could require an IME to justify treatments that had already been ordered/referred for by two doctors. I will NEVER do business with Allstate again.

7 months ago we lost our home to fire. Allstate is our insurance company. As of today 8/23/08 we have not heard anything regarding our claim, except it is still under investigation. So I feel what everyone has been saying I am experiencing it first hand. Imagine being with your home and job this long, I feel this is unfair. i would like to know what can be done about this. It has to stop somewhere. What are they investigating how to get out of paying? DON’T BELIEVE THAT YOU ARE IN GOOD HANDS WITH ALLSTATE. GOOD HANDS WOULD NOT HAVE THIS MANY COMPLAINTS, THINK ABOUT IT. I’d like to add to the comments of a previous policy holder. For 15 years I have had Allstate Auto (and 5 years with renter’s insurance) with no claims. Last year we were out of the country for 7 months without auto insurance and when we returned our premium had increased “as though I’ve never been insured thru them”, as the previous commentator stated. My agent, who probably made a mistake in canceling the policy in the first place, tried to get an exception through her district office manager, which was denied. I called Allstate and the telephone agent suggested I talk to the district office manager personally. He was not in and in a week has not called back. Clearly Allstate doesn’t need my business, despite my good record and loyalty, but even worse they have proven to be an incredibly poor corporate citizen in not even considering their customers’ situations. No doubt they will continue in business, but all shoppers beware – Allstate is clearly not to be trusted. Select another company.

Allstate is using devious, deceitful tactics to get me to drop them as my insurer becasue I live in California. They sent out an “inspector” who said I needed a guard railing along a nine-inch step. This is harrasment. They want me to drop them….I will happily ocmply.

Due to a house fire (not my fault), the Allstate agent could NEVER give me the specifics of how my DELUXE homeowners policy benefited me more than a lesser quality policy AND the adjusters are notorious for being subjective and biased and unfair. Watch out!! Beware of Allstate’s list of approved vendors/contractors. Be very aware and check into them BEFORE signing/hiring them to do repairs to your home.

Allstate charges way too much for coverage. We have been with Allstate for over 25 years with very few claims yet the rates continue to rise. The thing about paying you back for good driving records? Yeah, we never got that. Our agent said you had to apply! We are switching to a new company when the policy renews in October and will save close to $1000 a year between auto and homeowners. What a rip off Allstate is. Our agent, himself, is very nice, but his product is flawed.

We filed a small claim 4 years ago on our homeowners policy, that caused an increase from $400 a year to $770 a year. Now I get my new policy in the mail and its increased to $990 because Allstate did an increase in my state. I’ve been with them for 18 years and this is the thanks you get for being a loyal customer. Calls to my agent have not been returned and calls to corporate office were handled rudely. Bye-bye Allstate–you’ve lost my business.

Allstate is VERY unprofessional and discourteous to their customers. They do not have a heart when it comes to a tragedy that occurs to a family. They treat you like a number instead of a person. I had a a policy with allstate on my auto and two rental houses. The policy on the second rental property was cancelled by Allstate about 5 weeks after it was purchased because the house vacant. This was not a property that sat abandoned or neglegted. I was actively in the process of renovating the property and selecting a tenant. Allstate never called and asked any questions, never offered to discuss anything. I just received a letter in the mail with a cancellation date. In good hands huh?

We never had any claim and we always paid in full our policies before the due date, since we changed our agent almost a year ago every six months the company raised our insurance up to 17.5% plus a 5% deductible on our homeowners insurance policy and less money for the dwelling and liability on our car inurance, the agent does not provide any type of explaination or help.

Over 25 years w/ Allstate and mostly satisfied. In Jan 2008 a major storm and winds blew 1/4 of my roof off. Allstate covered 100% of the cost to replace the whole roof plus the cost for the temp repair the roofer did until he could schedule complete replacement. The adjuster was so nice he even added cost to repaint and recarpet rooms where leaks occurred. Thats the good news…now the bad.
My car was stolen a few years ago but recovered 3 days later. I wish Allstate had totaled the car as it cost over half its value to repair. They paid for original repair but vereything started breaking on it over the next year and I had to replace the car. Because it was considered a “theft recovery” the trade in value was ridiculous.

Do not utilize Allstate especially if you are a Senior. Allstate will do everything possible to avoid settling your claim in an equitable manner. Their claim department is horrible.
I had significant hail damage to my home. My vinyl siding had holes in it on one side of the house and the siding has been discontinued. The adjuster refused to help me find a match to my siding and basically said it wasn’t his problem. All of my neighbors have received assistance from their insurance companies. The other insurance companies will take a sample of the siding and look for a match. If they can’t find a good match they replace all of the siding. If they find a good match they replace the damaged part. Allstate did elect to help one young couple on my street find a match but still refuse to help me.

Agents sell you insufficient policies without advising you of such. When you file a claim you are faced with the fact the policy sold is not sufficient for your needs. Did not fairly assess damage to my property after Hurricane Katrina. They depreciated my possession so much that I could not even replace the damaged parts of my house with used items let alone restore it.
Cannot keep the information on my policies with my motorcycles and car straits after several attempts to correct the problems. Sometime they revert back to old and incorrect information. Infuriating!!

These guys are jerks. I could have had my car fixed in 3 days but its been 4 weeks since I hit a deer. I had to get an estimate at the dealer then I had to get an estimate at the all state adjuster which later we found out the dealer is approved and we never needed to go for the second estimate. The dick at the insurance company said their estimate was wrong at the dealer and gave me $46.00! The job costs $240.83 to do and you know what my deductable was supposed to be $100.00. They took $200 and they said the dealer will do it for the check they gave me plus $100. So I go to set up the appointment today and you know what the dealer wants all states estimate. They won’t order the stupid grille until they have their estimate. These guys have some nerve. If the insurance would just cut me a check for the part I would just do it myself and they would save money. No though they want to fight with me and screw around forever. I HATE ALL STATE. ALL STATE SUCKS! RUN AWAY FROM THEM AS FAST AS YOU CAN! They are there when it is time to take your money but when you really need them to pay for something they won’t even pay a fair share. DO NOT GO TO AN ADJUSTER! GO to the local dealer and more then likely they can do the estimate themselves. This is stupid. I am changing insurance companies as soon as possible.

I am turning 25 4 days before my policy renews. Everyone I know got a rate reduction after turning 25 but they raised my rates for no reason. I would pay $1,280 for 6 months with them for 2 cars with no points or claims. Called a competitor and they are charging me $562.81 for 6 months no claims no points. They are a major ripoff. I HATE Allstate and they never help me when needed.

Allstate provides the lowest adjustments for property damage than any other insurance company. It’s impossible to get home repairs after a disaster due to their lack of customer services and forgetting who they actually work for…the customer. They hike their prices at will, but does not change their practices. Repair companies laugh at their adjustments, they are thought of as a big joke. I’ve been with them for 19 years and filed my first claim after hurricane IKE, I am very disappointed in this company. I would refer my worst enemy to them.

Area had hail storm Apr 1, 2008. Allstate adjuster inspected roof and a check in the allocated amount LESS DEDUCTIBLE was mailed. Several months later after prices had been increased a bid was received and submitted to the adjuster for an adjustment of benefits. New check for the difference was cut and mailed LESS DEDUCTIBLE. Local agent accused me of trying to rip off Allstate. All of this is after being insured since 1978. Buyer BEWARE, Good insurance until you file a claim.

I would never recommend this company to anyone. I have had no claims until last May when a major hailstorm hit Austin, TX. Since then my insurance has increased $1200 a year!!! that means that I am now paying $200 a month!!!! No tickets, no accidents. It is ridiculous. My first check for the hailstorm was “lost in the mail” and I had to wait 2 more months before getting my car fixed…unbelievable. Then, once I did get my car into the bodyshop it sat in the parking lot for a week because the adjuster who was supposed to come out for a supplement didn’t show up for an entire week!!! Horrible customer service. No joke, I sat on hold for over 30 minutes when I called to see why the adjuster had not been to the bodyshop. I swear, if I hear that Allstate hold song one more time…..I will go crazy. Do not get this company…overpriced and bad customer service.

You are not in good hands with Allstate. After a mishap that required my car being towed, my agent didn’t even know about it. He said that there are two totally different computer systems. Also, homeowners insurance went up $400 a year, yet when I called my agent on it, he miraculously got my rate back down by $350.00. Said it was all “computer generated”. Well, if the “computers” are doing so much work, why bother having agents????????

Over 20 yrs. w/Allstate. Over the last 10 yrs. received repeated, unwarranted pressure from agent to convert from term to whole life, so found another company to do business with that had much better rates. They won’t reimburse me for the month that I had prepaid for, just before I canceled. Rates on auto & renters constantly increasing dramatically. Price increases on premiums for their product are something that I think are out of line. Never had a claim on homeowners insurance so I don’t know how good they are if you need them. I have had a claim for auto under comprehensive and they were fair and very responsive.

During a windstorm in February 2009 my swimming pool was damaged. adjuster came down took photos and requested I obtain an estimate. Faxed paperwork to adjuster, he calls me and says he lost all of the photos he took and I would need to e-mail him additional photos. I forwarded photos to him and two days later claim was denied. The reason was they claimed pool was not damaged by wind but by “weight of snow and ice.” The only problem was there was no ice or snow on the pool or near it. Adjuster could not give satisfactory answer, only said if I wished to appeal I would, at my expense, have to hire and engineering firm to submit an engineers report to say that it was wind damage. Pool totally collapsed the next day due to high winds and insurance company is not returning any phone calls.

I originally had an agent I did not care for and they will not let you switch, even when you move. I changed car insurance after they raised the rates and now am changing my home insurance after they raised it 68% due to rising housing costs. We have only filed one claim and the other party at fault had Allstate as well. The claim went smooth.

A wind and hail storm came through my neighborhood. All houses around me within 100 yards ALL of them were with different insurance providers than Allstate. ALL OF THEM, ALL of them received new roofs. My home was the only home that leaked, ruined a door jam in my den, and I had someone patch a 25′ eve.
Allstate sent the first adjuster who never even got on a ladder, and never went on the roof. This adjuster told me there were 22 shingles that needed replacing. I called requesting someone actually get on the roof! They sent another adjuster and he got on the roof and said I needed 12 shingles. So from the ground 22, from on the roof 12. All the while I have two eves that roofers are telling me are ruined due to hail and wind damage, and six houses within 100 yards all received new roofs.
So, I call the office of my agency and they tell me that I should be glad they are not going to re-roof my home because my premiums would go up! Allstate is a joke. Oh, they will take your money. You pay and expensive premium and get NOTHING.

All State is PATHETIC. Now I can see why the state of the Florida sued All State! Let me tell you something. I’m a general contractor. I deal with insurance claims every day as 90% of my business is claim work.
ALLJERK treats their insureds terribly, treats the contractors terribly, and pays out the least on claims of any major insurance company. This prevents the homeowners from hiring a quality contractor because quality contractors who actually have an office won’t do the work for the prices ALLJERK is paying.
Most insurance company’s I’ve delt with (Liberty Mutual, Chubb, West Bend, Farmers Insurance, State Farm, and hundreds more) are usually fair in their prices they pay for damage.
But ALLJERK and TRAVELERS are pathetic. They expect the homeowner to find a contractor who is willing to work for peanuts!
I do 1000+ plus claim jobs a year, and I will tell you all this year I won’t touch an AllJERK claim! I will walk it every time.
So beware homeowner and property owner. These guys were voted the worst insurance company in America, and I definately support that.

After Hurricane Katrina, Alstate dropped the wind portion of homeowner insurance policies for customers not carring car insurance with them. I will never spend another penny with Alstate. This may be legal but, I don’t believe this was the right way to treat loyal customers. In short, I feel you can’t depend on Alstate when times are tough.

I bought a house last year and I submit my information to the agent. Last week I called to find out why the new yearly bill was 1/2 the price of past year. The agenbt told me that they send an inspector to my house without telling me and according to the report my house is less square ft, no central air and a lot of things that we do have. I told the lady why they did not informe and why they can do an inspection without telling you. She got upset and offer me to schedule another inspection but the changes can not be done over the phone…

My 85 yr old mother called Allstate to take $8448.4500 from her Univeral LIfe Ins. She had $8448 that was hers and did not have to cancel her policy which she paid into for 16 yrs. The clerk canceled her policy after reading her the cancel clause, which she did not hear as she is hard of hearing. When I informed her She did not have to cancel her policy. She called to reinstate two days after the check came. The company would not re-instate her. Even after I told her she did not hear what the clerk said and was not informed she did not have to cancel her policy to get the money. They took advantage of an 85 yr old woman. Her policy was only for $49,000. What a greedy company with no heart. YOu certainly don’t have a friend at Allstate!!

My agent was excellent. I filed a claim after I had a accident and I had to make one phone call! My agent talked with the bodyshop, setup a rental car, worked with the claim rep, and followed up with me on everything. I literally had to dial my phone one time, he made the rest of the calls! My car has been hit 2x, both times in parking lots, first time hit-and-run… second time by woman with Progressive who wrongfully is denying the claim. Allstate has always been great. They paid to have my car fixed, and now we’re going through subrogation to get my deductible back. They have always been polite, professional, and prompt.
My only complaint is that rates have not reduced over the years, presumably because of my financial difficulties impacting my credit rating, despite that I’ve been their customer for over 20 years and never once during that time caused an accident or received any ticket or violation.

Quoting specialist gave me quote I was happy with so we signed up. Our premium later went up significantly. I was requested to fill out an “About Me” survey to get the quoted cost, which I refused to do as the specialist did not mention that in intake. Representative said we either paid the price or appealed which involved an extensive interview into what the specialist said during conversation. We stuck it out and are switching insurances now that the 6 months are over.

We pay high premiums for Deluxe policy and no claims for long time customer. Hail and wind damaged our roof. Several homes in our neighborhood received complete roof replacement by their insurance companies. Not Allstate! $150.00 credit toward a crappy repair job that we will have to do over. Adjuster brought the roofer out w/ him to bid the job. So this is how it’s supposed to work? Anyway, we’re done w/ Allstate.

Paid my policy for 35 years. When I needed them, they let me down. Very poor legal representation. They did not provide advice I needed and did not keep me informed of the status of the case. They walked away from the case the day before trial. I was not in GOOD HANDS!

I have had auto ins with Allstate for 20 years..no claims. Last year my husband hit a deer in his new truck. Truck was towed to one of their “preferred repair centers”. Truck has been back in shop 3 times since. Was told a certain type of radiator would be installed, cheap radiator put in; it leaked within 6 months. Last time agent or company would not talk to me. We took truck to a different shop; they handled insurance claim for us…allstate has never even called and would not give us a rental for last two times truck was in shop because of faulty work with original repair. Needless to say, we will not be renewing our insurance with them.

Intantly wrote us a $3000 check for temporary living expenses following Katrina. Satisfied with Katrina damage claim report, took several weeks after report for payment. My biggest complaint is they still are holding 10% ($1000)against repairs verification(4 yrs later)and will not come verify. I understand this is a common policy with most companies.

They increased the coverage and the premium just 2 months after I went with them. They say the house would take more money to rebuild it if it was totally distroyed. Problem I have is the housing and job market both suck,so they have no crediblity reason for doing this.

They talked us into adding car insurance with them to get a 20% discount on our homeowners policy which we enjoyed for about 4 months. Then when our homeowners policy came up for renewal the next year our rates went up 20% !!! So no discount at all. Very tricky if you ask me. The only claims we had with them were for towing and those were always paid promptly.

Just had hail damage to my home. @ roofing companies provided estimates stating hail damage. Adjuster for Allstate showed up 3 wks. later and said the roof was to old and would not pay for damage to a 9 yr. old roof.

We had a break and enter and lost approx. $14,000.00 in property. Allstate continually ignored our phone calls and dismissed most of our estimates on the lost property. We ended up receiving a cheque for approx. $8,000. We had to replace $6000.00 of items out of our own pocket.

Allstate has extremely poor customer service. Agents may be nice and work for you, but nearly everyone I have ever talked with via 1-800 numbers is an idiot that lies about your coverage. When I nearly had a vehicle get totaled out, they skewed their valuation using out of state vehicles and not like vehicles.

No claims have ever been filed their was no need, In 2008 my rate increased 10.85% reason given was due to floods along the Mississippi river in Missouri. I live in Missouri but live 400 miles from the flooded area, I still renewed. I just got my 2009 bill it has increased 23.94%. Allstate has increased my premiums every year at less than $100.00 every year but this year it will increase to approx. $300.00 time to find another carrier.

We had hale damage to our roof. The adjuster brought out a contractor from another roofing company to look at our “wet” roof. The contractor said our roof was perfect. Do NOT go with ALLSTATE. They do NOT want to pay the claims.

This is the worst company I have ever dealt with. Luckily, I found out how horrible their service is during the first month and was able to cancel prior to needing coverage. I have been waiting for a refund for over a week and still nothing. The department that handles the refunds will not take calls so I have to call the main 800 number so a representative can email another request for my refund. Stay Away!

Our property damage claim was denied. Seems Allstate just covers burst pipes. If there is water leakage behind the walls or in between the ceiling and floor they will not cover the damage. Oh, and no mold coverage either.
They pick and choose their coverage and give bonuses to the people who deny the claims-so I have heard.
Not in good hands with this company.

After being a customer for almost 5 years, not missing any payments/not amking any claims, etc., my rates were raised 40% overnight!! I filed a single claim for around $1500 about 4 months previously(no other cars involved) which was supposed to raise my premium $138 over 6 months (~$23/mo) but when I got my new bill, my premiums had increased by $68/mo! The representative on the phone was of course unable to give out information as to why the extra increase and was unable to reduce my premium. I was told that there was nothing I could do. I said that there was something that I could do, drop them and switch companies!! I would NEVER recommend Allstste to anyone.

The auto adjuster low balled the damage estimate by several hundred dollars. They wanted to cut a check on the spot. They told me if I took it to a body shop and damage is more they would pay. I told them I lost their trust and wanted a check in the amount somewhere in between their estimate and my estimate. They refused.

Allstate refuses to look at the all the facts in my minor fender bender. They are simply basing thier decision on our verbal statements and not on the photos and physical evidence. It is such minor claim to them, but hundreds of dollars to me when the evidence proves I was not at all fault. They were so nice until I had a claim. Then they refuse to represent me and brushed me off.

There is no reasoning with some of the adjusters,if they do not see as they call visual damage in the port folio they have with them for hail damage,which did not include wind damage or just general storm damage.I have roof leaks in my hall bathroom,and living room which is proof of the roof leaking.which the adjuster agrees to repair some of the interior damage at their rates,not to replace the wet sheet rock but to seal & repair,never going into my attic.
Not a thorough check knowing the insulation & plywood is wet also.

They do pay sometimes which is more than can be said for most insurance companies, but after almost 30 years of being with them we made a claim and they screwed us completely. AS others so often say, they want your money, but short you on payment. Whatever you do, DO NOT go to one of their “approved” shops…then BOTH the shop AND allstate work to screw you together.

Adjusters use preferred contractors who do very poor job of referb at absolutly outrageous prices to pad claims. If you insist on your own contractors, takes forever to get reimbersed for your expenses.
Could not recommend this conmpany to anyone. Claim placed in May and finally setteld in October on Halloween. I had never missed a payment in 21 years so I really think I deserved better service than the total lack of any consideration that I was extended.

Tree limb fell and broke rear window out of my wifes car, Allstate sent us to their prefered body shop. They took 3 weeks to replace window and installed it wrong. Allstate would not pay to have another body shop repair the window. Allstate sided with the contractor over their customer of 6 years.

The car was involved in accident, the damage was $7k (at their perfered shop) $15.9K(at the for dealer). Allstate reappraised the value of the car 3 times 10k, 12K, and 16K. even with the 16K value they wanted to repair the car. It took 6 Months, Ford Finance, and Ford repair. to get the car totaled. dont waist you time with this company, when you need help, they are not there and they do not have you best interest in mind…there is a reason they are so cheap.

In 10 years had one claim and Allstate dragged it out. Prompted me to do things I did not want to. Were a real problem on the facts and giving information on what they would pay out. Were vague on the terminology of what the policy covered. Changed there facts on multiple occasions and finally I had to have a lawyer contact them to have the claim responded to fairly, which their tone changed quickly!

We had Allstate for since 1972. Had to file a claim for hail damage because roof was leaking like a water faucet. Allstate sent adjuster(s) that were inexperienced said my roof looked fine. Every house on the entire block has a full roof replacement, except two. One house is vacant and the other one is mine. I have had to pay for my own repairs. Allstate said that they will pay to have the ceiling repainted. Even when I called in to the claims office, the person who was to give me a claim number laughed and said that they were not going to pay for hail damage. Allstate is an awful company. Dishonesty rules!!!

I had wind damage to my home on December 5, 2009. I have had arguments with 3 Allstate adjusters for faulty inspections for damage and the lack of response from them. One adjuster failed to show up for the inspection, yet filed a claim that he did come and adjust. Pure and simple fraud and I have the documents to prove it. The response time to get this claim resolved was completed today Jan 25 2010. The adjusters seem to have all the time in the world to get out to see the damage. The last adjuster was fair and did a good job, but still took a long time to get around to my home. You know, for a $3000 claim, this was extremely painful and emotionally draining. The local agent was of ZERO help also. I am telling everyone I can to go far away from Allstate and their agents. This company has sunk to an all-time low in customer satisfaction and settlement of claims.

I switched to Allstate Homeowners Insurance last month because the premium was the least expensive. Then I just received the letter today telling me that they increased my premium by over $300 immediately (just one month later!) I have been a home owner for 20 years, but no other insurance companies have ever done this to me. Please be aware. This is how Allstate stays in business (by ripping us off!)

After being loyal customers with Allstate without any claims for 26 years we had water damage due to a leaking hose from the water heater in the kitchen which we discovered upon our return from vacation. Allstate was prompt with the claim but due to haggling and fighting over the repair cost we finally gave up and replaced part of the brazilian cherry floor (family and hallway only) so it would cover the amount of the check. Unfortunately, we woke up to a flooded first floor on Christmas morning due to the water heater (again); this time it burst from the bottom. Allstate was not prompt with handling the claim and we had to wait 4 days and call twice before they took any action. Now the haggling started all over again. After two months non of the repairs have been done and we are still fighting for a fair share reimbursement of the repairs.
We never had a claim so we can not compare this claim to others and thus can not fairly compare Allstate to other insurance companies. We feel that a professional (plumber or Allstate rep) should have seen that the water heater was a disaster waiting to happen.

Maryland Insurance Administration made Allstate pay our claim after Allstate refused to pay. They found that Allstate violated four insurance regulations and fined them. Alltate repeatededly lied to us and cheated us. They put us through Hell for almost two years. They are criminals!

They made a mistake on my original paperwork and told me my amount would be 240/month for my 6 month policy. I signed up for easy pay so this came direct from my account. Without notice the third month in the took out $290. I was told since they made a mistake on the original paperwork I would receive a credit for the difference and get to keep my original amount for the remainder of the policy and that it would all show up the next month then I was still charged $290 the next month. I wrote my agent, customer service, the complaint center and corporate and all they did was tell me they take the matter seriously and the office will be changing their practices, so I am out around $100 that I was never told I would have to pay.

Allstate just dropped the interest that they pay on my Universal life policy by 05%, they were paying 5% which was suppose to be guaranteed for life on all intrest over $10,000. Now they say it will never drop below 4.5%. Yah righ!!!!!!!!
Pretty crappy company, I dropped their auto and home owners insurance years ago. They claimed that I had an accident, I backed into a car that was illegally parked and broke the tail light. It cost Allstate $200 to take care of the matter. My insurance went up so fast that I paid for that tail light 1000 times over.

In California Allstate can no longer underwrite the insurance they are passing off as Allstate Insurance. They go to another insurance company to have them underwrite and they collect the premiums from the client. They currently cannot underwrite home insurance and they are getting ready to have auto taken away from them. Even though their rating has been lowered, I cannot believe this company still has as high of ranking as it does.

I changed my insurance company from farmers to allstate when my premium went up 50%! I have never had a claim!!! Talked to the alstate agent about my concerns. Mainly that the rate went up at every renawal. He said that allstate would not do that. So I changed. needless to say, they do increase their rates at an alarming rate. So far, in two years my premiums have increased 33% and no claims. I have great credit as well. So why the increases? Been with Allstate Home & Auto for years. Got health and supplemental health options plan in 2009.
Got sick had to have surgery and filed a claim on the SHOP policy, they took months to even respond, then demanded I jump through hoops to prove my claim. My Allstate agent had no clue what some of these things even were and had never heard of them before.
I finally get a response to my claim, which was denied based on prior medical history, they claimed misrepresentation on my initial application.
The incompetent staff at AHL could not even cross reference birthdates and social security numbers to verify their facts.
Then they cancelled my policy and sent me my premiums.
I hired an attny and filed a case against them, their attny filed the same exact thing they said to me and even included this other persons medical files in his response.
All of this and they still DO NOT have to resinstate my policy, which I do not understand at all.

had two homes insured with them. Moved out of one and turned it into a rental. Had the policy switched to a landlord policy in Dec09. Told me they take care of everything. I called yesterday June to get rental coverage on my apartment, they told me my coverage on one of my properties had been cancelled bc the mortgage company was two weeks late on the payment. Apparently the previous policy came due in June, the new landlord policy came due in May. The mortgage company sent the payment in june. I never received any cancellation notice and had I not called inquiring about something else would have never know it was cancelled. Keep in mind i have 2 houses with them over 13 years with 1 claim that they would only pay 1200 on a roof. The kicker is they said they would reinstate me only if I added my car insurance with them. They told me they would contact corporate and see if they could make an exception. In the mean time my home is NOT covered. What a joke . I am getting on the phone in the am and immediately look elsewhere. So much for good hands

I purchased a used car in January. I was quoted, in writing, a premium. I gave a cc number for the premium. Allstate charged my cc more than my quote. I had to dispute my cc to get a refund. CC company decided in my favor. Now Allstate is billing me the additional $77.51 and refuses to send me an itemized bill showing the reason for the charge.

Had a claim on my roof due to a storm. The adjusters stated that was due to trees near my home. I have spent lots of money keeping the trees pruned and when I presented the documents to back that up and point out that my policy should cover tree damage due to a storm. i have allstate insurance for home and auto and i have had 2 car claims and i cannot tell you how extremly fast and friendly the company is.everyone should be with allstate.

All State inspector come and tells me that out of ~50 dents 25 are due to hail damage and rest are MECHANICAL damage so i asked him explain mechanical damage and he said something that would cause by me, i asked him explain the dent on my second floor which is about 40ft high (i have walk out basement) how can i cause that dent he had no explanation. Then i got call from his supervisor saying that due to only ONE hail damage on your house we cannot pass your claim. So i asked him how many total dent does that report have and he replied ONE i told him that your inspector said i had about 50 dent what happened to 49 dents supervisor had no answer. So i requested to have different inspector come out he replied they have to send the same inspector, so he came we went over the same dent again and all of the dents become MECHANICAL dents now i went over the some dent that he told me that were due to hail and refused that he never claimed that they were hail damage first time. When he was taking off he was glad to tell me that he has not approved any claims in last 5 years and he was proud of that, with ALL STATE you are NOT in SAFE HANDS you are in hands of crook

Rates keep going up. Never even sent an adjuster out when Hurricane Ike damage the fence. Replaced it with my own money ($3700).
Very poor service. Rates are way TOO HIGH!!!

I had a burglary, then water damage from an ice dam formed during the blizzard. The response for both was excellent and I was impressed until I got my renewal bill. They upped my rate $500! I will be looking elsewhere for insurance.

They become inconsistent with information about your coverage once a claim is filed. If no claim is filed then every thing is peaches and cream as long as they keep getting your money.

Been with them for years, filed one claim $250 deductible $263.45 check from allstate. Homeowners policy doubled because I “lost the no claims discount. $450 a year to $890 a year. See ya!

I have been insured with Allstate for over almost 15 years and in the last 7 years I was involved in 2 accidents for which I was not at fault. Instead of standing by me and helping me Allstate left me out to dry. Right now I am in the middle of treatment for an MVA in 11/2009 and they are mostly likely going to stop paying out on my PIP. I find Allstate to be the worst Auto Insurance company and have cancelled policy with them and will NEVER recommend them to anyone! They are the worst!!!

The claim was paid of amount $1,395.00.
I have pay AllState 10 years $1000.00 like they told me for very “good insurance”
Now after one claim I have to spend more then $2,000.00 my own money to repair a problem , and my sealing in my jaccuzy room.
AllState send my new bill my insurance jump from $1,000.00 per year to $1,702.00 .
Who will stop them ???

Have had a few minor auto accidents in the last 10 years and Allstate has promptly responded to phone calls and provided timely payments to the auto body repair shop. They have never raised my rates as other insurance companies have.
Had one homeowner claim due to water damage with roof leaking and was denied claim as they said was an ongoing problem. Was the first I realized that the carpet was soaked in a corner of the house.

Allstate is very expensive and will collect your premiums without a problem. However, once a claim has been filed, they will refuse to pay for repairs, if not done their way. I filed a comprehensive claim, for running over a large object, causing damage to the undercarriage of my vehicle. Although the dealership, in which I took my car recommended that cross member and subframe be replaced for safety purposes, Allstate argued that parts were patchable and could be done at their recommended shop, at a much cheaper rate. Allstate representatives were extremely rude and uncooperative. I spoke with everyone, from claim adjusters to the coroporate office, and no one was willing to resolve the problem. To date, my car remains in the shop, and has not been fixed. Its now going on week 2. I feel that I am definitely NOT in good hands with Allstate, as their slogan states.

Allstate is not very competent regarding customer satisfaction. They have negelected to timely provide insurance cards and send threatening letter requesting information that if not provide in 20 days will raise rates. All the information was provided when policy was accuired. I find them below par.

Had home and auto insurance policies with Allstate for 4 years. Their agents are knowledgible and helpful. Last year we had a claim of about $1400 due to burgulary. Allstate jumped my home policy rate up by over 50% at next renewal. I am looking for a more competitive insurance company now.

Their rates keep going up from year to year. They are very responsive for claims. I had a claim on my house and after a few go arounds they agreed to fix the roof. Once they agreed the claim and payments went smoothly

Had auto and home insurance, with upgraded jewelry insurance and after many years of being an Allstate client with no claims, lost very valuable piece of jewelry and the roadblocks Allstate threw at me made me feel I was being investigated for some wrongdoing! Ultimately I found the diamond and dropped my claim. Allstate dropped ME anyway!

After 40 years of coverage with Allstate we are now shopping for a new provider, home, auto & landlord. Because we live 1 blk outside the city limits our coverage cost jumped by 2/3. Needless to say we will not renew with Allstate & are shopping for a new company to cover all our properties.

After 34 years with the company, they price increase has now made it where I can start at Liberity Mutal for less than what I am paying Allstate. Other issues are Allstate does not seem to care that a long time customer is walking away. No questions asked, but I do want you to know you are in good hands with Allstate? Ya right!

The problem with Allstate is that they do not have control over their agents. They allow their greed motivated agents to hire low wage workes who have no interest and knowledge to handle something important like insurance. I do not want $ 10.00 an hour person handling my insurance.

Police report stated we were not at fault. The person rear ending our vehicle stated in Police report he removed foot from brake. Now insurance company will not settle stating insufficient evidence. An eye witness was eliminated as he did not see the driver of the other vehicle. I Cancelled policy on home and cars. Still trying to obtain repairs from other drivers policy as we were both insured with Allstate.

I had a motorcycle theft and to avoid paying allstate claims fraud. Even after everthing they wanted, I tried to give them but they wernt happy. From the start they attack you them blame money problems and the story as fact being unbelieveable. The truth is stranger them fiction. I even went to their deposition an still, all they wanted to do if make me look like a thief. I will never use them for anything. Trying to make honest people look like thiefs. Id like to see a class action suite over all the unpaid claims! an the stress they put people through fighting the injustice.

Had a hail storm in our area. Our roof was compromised and siding on the west side of home and garage Allstate only wants to repair 6 shingles on the roof and fix the damage siding on the garage even though the sidiing will not match they will not replace the siding on the rest of the garage. The roof was still in the process of being installed when the storm hit and they are saying the shingles have scuff marks from the contractors and not hail damage other than 6 shingles. Seems funny the neighbors whole roof is getting replaced and the same contractor done his right before starting on ours and he has State Farm. Never again with Allstate they are CROOKS. Dump them if you have them. They SUCK!!!!!!

Allstate does EVERYTHING IT CAN to not pay or correct a problem. I had my car damaged by someone else and it took 3 months and 5 visits for them to make it right.
I had hail damage and they refused to pay. I have wind damage this year over half of my roof and they want to patch it. ALL my neighbors who filed claims have totally new roofs years ago. ME NOTHING!! Loop hole KINGS of the industry.

I had to call the state of florida ins. commission after allstate with help my benfits for four months. It take one week after the insur. commission got involve before I got a check for 5000.00 back bentfits.

With 25 years of claims free with all our insurance products, and without ever having a late payment of any kind on our credit report, they wanted to deny new insurance based upon the number of recent inquiries? Considering how tight credit and how vastly different rates are from various providers, shopping for a car loan ended up being denied insurance. This is how ridiculous these insurance companies have become. Dont shop Allstate. They are cherry pickers and their rates are ridiculously high anyway.

I dealt with Allstate they con customers and lie to them in order to get them to sign waivers. We were lied to and treated rudely and i was a good paying customer at that. Allstate sucks and i will make sure the word gets around

Claim process for wind and Hail damage was extremely slow. It became apparent very early on they they would spend more money not to pay the claim. Only through my insistance did they send out an inspector, however that was three months later and too late in the season to have my roof repaired. So my insurance company forced me to ride out a Michigan winter under tarps on my roof.

tornados through my area, leaks started in my house. Roofer with 40 years experience said insurance should cover entire roof because of wind damage. Allstate said there was no wind damage.

They were very quick to issue a check for repairs prior to a damages estimate so it was about $8,000 short. I did not fall for the gag and returned their check. They do not seem interested in representing our interests, only themselves or the driver at fault (she has the same company). I feel ripped off and quite dissapointed.

After nine years with Allstate I had my first homeowners claim which they handled fast and easy enough but the first chance they had the jacked my insurance up. After 9 years with my car insurance not one claim or ticket and they have doubled my insurance every year it goes up.

We have only had 3-4 claims on vehicles in last 20+ years. Each year our premiums have continually increased until I am not sure I will renew this year. I have been checking around and have found Allstate it 300-600 dollars more than the five competitors I have checked. Will very probably change.

Been with the company for 15 years. We filed our first claim this winter when our chimmney and roof began leaking during and following a heavy snow, ice, and rain storm. Allstate denied the claim with in 24 hours saying it was faulty maintainance on our part. we built the home 10 years ago and take great care of our property. The expense to fix the chimmneys and roof exceeded $12,000.

Got both home and auto policies with this company. In about three months, I received a letter requiring that I remove a trampoline, cut tree limbs back from my house, and replace a back step or they drop my insurance. I did as they requested, but they still were going to drop me. I dropped them!
