What to do at about a bench warrant?

I was caught stealing and required to go to a court date about 8 months ago but

I didn’t go. I have a bench warrant and it has effected my daily life. I am a

student and do not have lots of money. I am trying to get back on my feet but I

don’t know where to turn or if I should contact a lawyer. My bail is $2000. What

can I do to get my warrant removed?

It is good that you are trying to deal with this head on.Yes, you need a lawyer.  If you are a student then likely you qualify for a free attorney under the rules in California and I would go to legal aid asap.  The attorney can help arrange for you to turn yourself in to the police and arrange for bail.  Good luck.
