The clutch went out on a work truck for
dump truck, the truck has been in the
shop for 3 weeks getting repaired, the
repair to the clutch and transmission
was a mechanical problem not driver
error, can I be fired for that, and if
he does fire me for that do I have a
legal leg to stand on to go after him

Unless you have protection here under the terms of an employment contract or union agreement, you are what is known as an "at will" worker. This means that your company can set the conditions of work much as it sees fit (absent some form of legally actionable discrimination). The includes who to fire and why. In fact, your employer can terminate you for any reason or no reason at all, with or without notice. While seemingly unfair, it is perfectly permissable under the law.
