Where can we find if anothr business name has been trademarked?
We are starting our own business and the name we are we want to use is similar to another name in another location but in the same state as us. We don’t want to cause any problems with having a name that is too similar.

Go to the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (PTO) website: you can check there online for whether a name has been trademarked. It's a well-done website; it should be straightforward.
You can also check to see if the name was registered as a trademark in your state (though most trademarks are registered federally, not at the state level) here: http://dos.myflorida.com/sunbiz/search/
