The"look back" or "wash out" period is the length of time prior DUI offenses can be used in imposing a sentence in a subsequent DUI conviction. After the specified period of time, the offense is deemed not to have occurred for sentencing purposes. However, typically the prior DUI's stay on a person's driving record indefinitely.
