What is an arraignment trial?

My husband’s court date is this week but it is an arraignment trial. What do they do at a arraignment trial?

The first appearance for a person with respect to a criminal matter is called the "arraignment". At the arraignment, the accused is read the charges against him of her by the judge. After the reading of the charges, the accused is to make a plea as to the charges against him or her of guilty, not guilty or no contest.

At the conclusion of the arraignment, the court typically sets the case for a settlement conference.

If you husband does not have an attorney representing him at the upcoming arraignment, he should retain a criminal defense attorney to assist.
