I think that you know by now that not calling the police was a bad move.  Do you have witnesses to the accident?  You should consider filing a late police report and calling your insurance company asap.  Seek legal guidance if there are issues here about it all.  If your insurance company does not disclaim for late notice then you can submit the claim to them, let them pay you and then they will sue her on your behalf.
