What does it mean when a property is assigned to a commissioner for sale?

I am involved in a suit for partition. If the property has not sold by a specific time, it will be assigned to a commissioner for sale. Is that sort of like a sheriff auction? Is there a minimum amount they will sell the

property for?

While it would be best to talk to your attorney for the partition action on what the law is there and what the orders mean, it sounds as if the court wants this matter done with andwnats the property sold.  So it assigns a party to step in and take control of the situation and gives them the legal ability to sell the property.  Generally you get less in a sale of this kind than you would in a private sale.  Good luck.
