took all my clothes shoes purses and things he

You sue him for theft: anything which either you purchased yourself or which he gave you as a gift is yours (gifts, once given, cannot be ungiven and belong to the recipient; the giver has no right to them). Taking someone else's property is theft; theft is grounds for a lawsuit as well as a criminal act. You would sue him for the value of the items he took, based on theft.
