What am I facing if I am charged with theft under the amount of $100?

I took scrap copper from a job and sold it.

In most states this is considered a simple larceny misdemeanor punishable up to one year in jail if convicted. For first time offenders, upon a plea of guilty, most states will allow a term of probation under a delayed sentence to avoid you from having a criminal record upon the completion  of your probation.
