I'm not a Pennsylvania attorney, but my research suggests that if you left the state, the statute of limitations does not run while you're gone, which is similar to a number of other states.  The Pennyslvania statute appears to be relatively complex, as to the particular limitations, so without knowing exactly what you were going to be charged with, it's hard to be more specific.
