somebody told me if I apply for government job and get it, I won’t get citizenship.

My name is Laxmi, I am from India, living in the U,S for the past 7 years. I have
a green card, issued 3 years ago. In May I am going to put in my citizenship
application. I have done Master’s and PhD from TexasAM University, and searching
for a job. I am told if I get a job working for the government, my citizenship
will be revoked, Am I correct in assuming that?

who told you that?  that's insane.  if you are in the US, working for the US government and apply for US citizenship as part of your immigration process, why would it be revoked?  in fact, some government jobs are not open to people UNLESS they have US citizenship because of clearances that may not be available to non-citizens.  Just go ahead and submit your naturalization application if you are set on doing that and continue with the job search.  Please let me know if you have any additional questions.
