Sold as is

My name is Amanda and my boyfriend and I are in the process of buying a home. We had gone through did the appraisal, had the home inspection done, sent in an addendum asking for the sellers to fix a few things for us, we got their response back and they are claiming they wanted to sell the house as is but never once mentioned at anytime, are they legally allowed to do this? And what are our options to bring up to them concerning this issue.

What ever rights that you may have in this matter, are addressed in your purchase and sale agreement. Check what, if anything, is stated in the "inspection contingency" period if there is one (or anywhere else repairs may be mentioned in the document). If there is none, then the sale is truly "as is".

What does your contract say? You have whatever rights to repairs that the contract gives you, such as in what is commonly called an "inspection contingency," but no other rights. If the contract does not contain an inspection contingency or other right to repairs., it is effectively an "as is" sale and they do not habe to make repairs. Check your contract to see what rights you have.
