Should my mom sue my dad for alimony after being divorced for 9 years?

My dad and mom were married for 25 years but have been divorced for 9 years. They didn’t get anything written but my dad continued to pay my mom’s rent because she couldn’t work for the last 9 years; he did so without any questions asked. He is now getting remarried and decided to go on my mom and break the lease and she has to move out within a month. Does she have any sort of case against my dad?

Did a court ever dissolve the marriage between them?
