Technically, this is not against the law. However, if the release of this information in some way results in some form of legally actionable discrimination against the owrker in question, then that is against the law. Immigrants are protected under employment discrimination by laws. Also, such a disclosure is illegal if it violates the terms of a union agreement or employment contract.
