If I want to invest money into my friend’s business but I’m an international student and I’m in OPT, can I invest as a sleeping partner?

Or do I need to have any additional forms?

Investing money is ok if you are in F-1 OPT.  You cannot work for this business and cannot derive any income from the business other than as passive profits since you are not authorized to work for this business unless you can get them to be the employer while you are in OPT status.
