If the mechanic who took your money for car repair is a licensed mechanic in your state, you should report him or her to your state's administrative agency that oversees these licensed mechanics for failure to return your money and to get your car back to you in a reasonable amount of time.

He or she had your vehicle for 6 months as well as your money. This is not right.

You can also send him a written demand letter for return of your $1,000 and accrued interest upon it by a certain date. If there is no compliance, you should consider a small claims action for the return of your money.

Good luck.
