If my mother recently passed away and her house was left to me my brother and I, are we responsible for paying the mortgage?

Can the bank take the house?

Sorry to hear about your mother.

Since you and your brother inherited your mother's home, you and your brother are now responsible for paying the mortgage.

If the mortgage is not paid, the bank can foreclose on the property and you and your brother would lose the home.
