If my mom and I own a home together but only I live there and I want to rent out a room, do I need her consent?

Under the laws of all states in this coutnry, absent a written agreement between the co-owner of the home with you (your mother) you are entitled to rent out a room in it without her consent. From a practical matter, it would be a wise idea to get the consent of the other co-owner in writing before you decide to rent out the intended room.
