my 17 year old student was arrested for shop lifting
She is a single mom about to graduate from high school. She was with a pregnant relative that convinced her to do it for her. Does she need a lawyer for court? What could her fine be? Since she is a "first-time offender", she may be able to arrange for something known as "diversion". This is an alternative sentencing program in which she will plead guilty to the charge, receive a special probation and upon successful completion, her plea will be withdrawn and the case her dismissed. Her record should automatically be cleared at that point.
