just got married less than 10 days need divorce

I just got married less than 10 days ago in California and we mailed out the marriage license the same day of wedding. I haven’t received marriage certificate but I believe my marriage won’t last. How Long do I need to wait before I file for divorce?

Some states have what is know as a "waiting period" to file. This means that a husband and wife must live apart for a certai period of time before filing for a divorce. However, CA is not such a state. This means that you can file immediately.

You can file immediately: unlike some other states, California does not require that you and your spouse live separately for some period of time (typically 6 months to 1 year) before you can file for divorce. There is no need for you to wait.
