I was let go from a sales job last week. I was paid up to that point with salary. My proposal/offer stated,

No, an annual salary means the amount you earn per year IF you work the whole year. If your employment terminates mid-year, you only have to be paid up to the point at which employment ended. An anual salary is not a guaranty of a certain amount regardless of what happens to the job, and an offer letter is not an enforceable contract. By your logic, if fired after 1 day because you found incompetent, you'd still get paid for a full year--clearly, that is not what happens.
