Is it legal to make a salaried manager to work more than 12 hours in a day

I am a store manager and my district manager is stating I can’t leave work until all
my tasks are complete. These tasks are over due and will take me at least 12 hours
after my regular shift of 8 hours. I was out sick for a week that is why my tasks are
behind and I’m not feeling 100 yet. I used vacation for my week leave

No, it is not. Absent certain professions (truck drivers, pilots and some medical personnel, etc.), there is no limit on how many hours an employee can be scheduled to work. That is unless such an action violates a union agreement or employment contract. Also, the employee's treatment must not constitute some form of legally actionable discrimination. Otherwise, in an "at will" employment arrangment, a company can set the terms and conditions of employment much as it sees fit. For their part, a worker can either comply with their employer' s rules, complain and risk termination, or quit.
