Is it legal to have only 6 hours in between shifts for a part-time hourly worker?

My manager scheduled me 6 pm-12 pm Saturday, and then scheduled me 6 am-2 pm Sunday. This means that there’s only 6 hours in between my shifts. Is this legal? I used to work at Walt Disney World and they were very strict about making sure we had at least 8 hours between our shifts because anything less would be illegal.

There is no law on how many days or hours in a row an employee can be made to work. This is also true for shifts for which there is little time in between, such as in your case. Company policy can provide otherwise but in the absence of such a policy an employer is fre t schedule as it deems appropriate. So unless you have protection against this scheduling under the terms of an employment contract union agreement, it is legal. The fact is that most work relationships are "at will". This means that a company can set the conditions of employment much as it sees fit (absent some form of legally actionable discriminaton).
