If your working in a high crime area and your employer doesnt get their camera system fixed could you sue them if something happens to you during a robbery?

Potentially yes: if the employer does not take reasonable steps to protect employees despite a known risk of crime, then that failure could be considered negligent, or unreasonably careless, and could make the employer liable, or financially responsible, for any injuries suffered by employees or any material losses (e.g. if anything is stolen from them).
