Im appealing a eviction landlord told me
to get out because he has sold the house

If you have a written lease for a defined period of time (such as a one-year lease) which has not expired, you cannot be removed by either the seller or buyer until the lease is over. The seller can only sell what he has, and what he has is a property with a tenant who has a legal right to be there until a certain date. The buyer takes over the lease until it is done, but does not have to renew the lease, of course.
If you had an oral (unwritten) lease, you were a month-to-month tenant; you were also one if you had a written month-to-month lease. In either event, the landlord could give you a month's notice terminating your tenancy (that's what month to month means: landlord and tenant are only obligated for a month at a time, and either can end the tenancy on a month's notice) and then evict you if you don't leave when you should.
