I am assuming that you are referring to a life insurance policy.  Your husband may place anyone he wants as the beneficiary.  It is a contract like anything thing else between him and the insurance company.  He is not required to place his wife as the beneficiary and may make changes at any time so long as the change is made pursuant to the terms of the contract.  Because you are just the beneficiary, you can be taken off without notice at any time.  I suggest you talk to him about this...
