If I took a ring into a jewelers to be sized and they completely ruinedit, what action can I take?

If you took a ring to a jeweler to be sized and worked upon and through no fault of your own the jeweler's employee or employees damaged the ring, the jeweler is responsible to either repair the ring assuming it can be done, or compensate you for the fair market value of the ring.

Assuming the jeweler compensates you for the fair market value of the ring, you get paid the compensation and the jeweler keeps the damaged ring. I would make a written demand upon the jeweler first for repair and second for payment of the ring's value in writing keeping the letter for future reference.

If you do not receive a satisfactory response, your option is to bring a legal action possibly in small claims court.
