You can't force your spouse to stay married if he or she does not want to. If you won't sign, your spouse can go to court and get a court order dissolving the marriage, distributing assets, setting support, dealing child custody, etc. Of course, if the papers your spouse wants you to sign are unfavorable to you, putting the matter in the court's hands may be best.
