If my employer admitted to sending my check to the wrong address so they placed a stop payment on the check, do I have to pay the stop payment fee?

My wage earned for that day was reported to unemployment. I did not sign an agreement for the stop payment measure. Now they’ve charged the fee to me, and it’s been 1 1/2 months since I was supposed to receive my check. Is this legal?

If you gave them the wrong address, then the fee would be your responsibility. On the other hand, if you gave them the right address and they were negligent (or careless) in sending  it to the wrong place, then they should be responsible for the fee. Liability for a cost or fee in a situation like this generally depends on who was at fault.
