Under the laws of all states in this country, each municipality requires the presence of fire extinguishers and smoke detectors in all units established for human habitation. In fact, the number of fire extinguishers and an apartment complex is based on the number of square feet of the entire unit.

From what you have written, there should be at lease three fire extinguishers (one on each floor) where you reside.
