If I just received a 3 day notice to pay rent or quit from the bank who bought the house from my landlord, what do I do?

How do I all of a sudden just have 3 days to pay, if I have received papers from the bank before but never mentioning paying rent? Is there some sort of legal help for tenants in this situation? I don’t have money for lawyers and all that but I need some advice.
