If I have overstayed my J1 visa, can I still apply for E2 visa?

Hello. Although you may not accumulate unauthorized overstaying when on a J1 visa, filing a change of status may be risky. I would need to know how long you overstayed and if you are still in the grace period of 30 days after the J1 expires.
