If I have been paying the real estate taxes on a property for several years do I have any claim on it.

If you have been paying property taxes on another's property for 5 plus years and have been using the property without permission to the exclusion of all others in an open and hostile manner, you may have a claim for ownership to the property that you write about under "adverse possession."
