If I’m 26 and got arrested for shoplifting nearly $100 worth of merchandise, what can I do?

This is my first arrest. I have a court soon. Can I get ACD?

I suggest that you immediately consult with a criminal defense attorney to assist you in resolving the situation that you have gotten into as opposed to representing yourself. Possibly as a first time offender you may be eligible for "diversion" in your county. If so, and you satisfy the terms of your "diversion" the charge against you might be dismissed.

In a typical "diversion" program you are fined, do community service work, attend classes and are expected to stay out of legal trouble for at least six (6) months.
