How long of a noticemust a lease holder give you under a verbal contract?

The lease holder wrote a message on the white board in our house telling us we have 10 days to leave. Is this fair?

Under the laws of all states in this country proper written notice to end a tenant's tenancy must be given by the landlord in form set forth by each state's statute served upon the tenant by the landlord or the landlord's agent. Typical statutes in this country require at least thirty (30) days written notice to terminate a tenant's lease.

In the situation that you have written about it appears that the message written on the white board giving ten (10) days to vacate does not comply with the law in your state to end a tenancy.
