How do I find out if my mother was awarded an insurance settlement

My sister died in 2005, my mother filled
a wrongful death suit in civil court and
wasnt awarded anything however I have
reason to believe she rather settled
with the insurance company. How do I
find out?

The court documents should state the disposition of the matter but you would not be entitled to review same since you were not likely a party to the suit.  You can check out the caption in the courthouse and see if their records state how the matter was resolved.  If she did settle then the funds would be hers in such a suit.  Good luck.
