How can I get my record expunged?

I was convicted 6 years ago of a shoplifting charge. I would like to find out any information needed to have my record expunged .I currently live in another state.

Was this your first offense? If so, and you were given deferred adjudication, then upon successful competion of your probation your plea would have been withdrawn and your case dismissed (although you may want to check on the record of your arrest). Otherwise, you can google the word expungment; most states have online information regarding who is eligoble to receive an expungment and the steps for doing so. If you feel that this process will be too much for you to undertake, then you can consult directly with a criminal law attorney in the area of where the inident occurred.
