If my employery wants me to start coming in on Saturdays to work in the warehouse packing boxes but it is outside the scope of my duties, is this legal?

Working a warehourse is not in my job description and it will add another day of work (6 in total). I am the vice president of sales at a small telecom firm in which we sell items to be shipped around the country.We have a sales team and a warehouse of laborers. I am salaried and commissioned and I made $180k last year. I have a contract that states my duties as a salesperson. In the last year I have won several large projects for our company and the business has grown from $4M a year to $8M to $12M.

Do you have an employment contract that prohibts this change? Is there some form of union agreement which does not allow this acton? Or is this situation covered under company policy? If not, and no form of actionable discrimnation is present, then unfortunately you have no legal recourse here.

The fact is that in an employment at will arrangement, an employer can set the terms and conditions of employment as it sees fit. This includes setting an employee's hours and job duties as deems neceassary. For an employee's part, they can choose to work for an employer or not.

Bottom line, if you can't work something out with your employer you can find another position or face termination.
