If you had an order issued against you in some already filed court proceeding with respect to your former wife's attorney's fees (presumably a dissolution matter) you need to pay the amount as order because your failure to do so would be subject to a contempt citation.
The failure to pay would not become a whole new civil matter for the simple fact that the court retains jurisdiction over you from the order that it issued out of the pending case.
