Can get fired due to a police investigation?

I had a CPS case going on and my boss knew about the case. Now I was fired for missing work to attend court, as well as interviews with the investigator and the police. The reason given to me for letting me go was that I had to much going on in my life. Yet, my boss new about the situation from the start. Can I do anything about it?

Unless your termination violated the terms of an employment contract or union agreement, you have no claim here. The fact is that most work arangments are "at will". This means that a company can set the conditions of employment much as it sees fit (absent some form of legally actionable discrimination). Accordingly, an employee can be fired for any reason or no reason at all, with or without notice.
