Does a tow truck give a 24 hour notice before towing your vehicle?

My husband got stuck in a ditch at 3am.
After failing to get out, he left a note
and walked home. At 10am he was able to
find a friend who get get his vehicle
out. However, he found out his car at
been towed earlier in the morning. Was
the tow truck in the right? Or can we
fight this?

No, there is no requirement for 24-hour notice pre-towing. If a vehicle is someplace it may be a hazard (e.g. disabled along a roadside, where another vehicle could potentially hit it), then it may be towed; it may also be towed if, note or not, there is no one with it to take charge of it.
