Can my employer take hours away to accomadate my ex?

My ex and I work for the same company. We have a daughter and a verbal, long standing parental agreement. My employer has cut hours from my schedule, to let him come to work, during his parental hours. They are forcing me to take her, so that he may work, without my consent. Can they do this?

Unfortunately, they can unless your treatment violates the terms of an employment contract or union agreement. The fact is that most work relationships are "at will". This means that a company can set the conditions of employment much as it sees fit (absent some form of legally actionable discrimnation, which you did not indicate). Accordingly, for the most part, not all employees need be treated the same or even fairly.
