Can my employer force me to take a picture of myself for a company advertisement?
When the company I work at updated their website pictures were taken of employees who work with customers. I was basically told take the picture or we find someone else. Now my employer is creating a magazine advertisement and all sales people are expected to be in the picture. It’s not a religious thing for me but it makes me uncomfortable for others to be using my image for whatever they want. I don’t want to cause trouble or get fired but does my employer have the right to force me into being part of an advertisement.

Unless you there is a prohibition against such a mandate under the terms of an employment contract or union agreement, then you must comply with your employer's directive. The fact is that most work relationships are "at will", which means that it can set the conditions of employment much as it sees fit (absent some form of legally actionable discrimination).
