Can I sue my ex-roommate for his half of the rent that I had to pay in order to stay in the apartment?

He declared Chapter 7 bankruptcy and was discharged. Our sublease was for the 6 months just after he filed. Neither the apartment complex or myself was listed on the bankruptcy (no assets). Does the bankruptcy cover this debt too? I have not yet filed a suit.

Based upon what you have written about you can file suit against your roommate for moneys advanced for him for rent even though he filed for bankruptcy protection because he did not designate you or the landlord as creditors in his filing.
