Can I still make a claim to my former home insurance company eventhough I was’nt not with them any longer for over one year?

If your claim arises from an incident that occurred while you were insured with them, then yes, you can make your claim.  If it arises from an incident that occurred after your policy with them had already been cancelled, non-renewed or terminated, then no, you will not have coverage.
