There are little by way of privacy rights in the workplace. Therefore, unless disclosing why an employee was terminated violated the terms of a union agreement or employment contract it is legal. Basically, most wok relationships are "at will". This means that a company can set the conditions of the workplace much as it sees fit (absent some form of legally actionable discrimination).
