Can an employer be held responsible if an employee contracts the TB infection from exposure to TB samples?

I was exposed to TB samples in the sample management room without any notice from the employer. I was given the information from a co-worker a day later that there were TB samples that day when I went into the sample management room. I was also given the information from a co-worker that the employer deleted the email chain about the TB samples. I went on my own to get tested for TB a couple weeks later I had cold-like symptoms and the results were positive.

Since you were injured on the job, you can file a workers' compensation claim. Your employer's HR department should have the applicable forms for filing that claim. You should also speak with a workers' compensation attorney.
You should also file a complaint with OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) against your employer for the hazardous working conditions which exposed you to tuberculosis.
